This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
At our school, we have a wonderful variety of learning styles, nationalities, and personalities. The one thing they all have in common is that they love learning and exploring.
The classroom environment is very important.
A variety of materials are needed for the children to be able to carry out their visions. The classroom is always a buzz with activity and providing materials and support is the way to inspire our children to problem solve, role play, communicate, and develop the all important social emotional skills they will need as adults.
My Project
The world around us is a magnificent place. I'd like to give my students the opportunity to explore different science concepts at their developmental level.
Tactile and visual experiences help children understand otherwise abstract science concepts.
I love the natural curiosity of young children. The materials I have chosen will awaken this and prompt many different activities and exploration.
An area with two shelving units dedicated to science will help children focus on these concepts and give them the attention they deserve. Science is the backbone of rich learning experiences that transfer to other areas of learning such as literacy concepts and math concepts. Materials such as x-rays will give the children an idea of what goes on under our skin. The solar system viewer will give the students an idea of our universe. The four seasons activity is especially important for my students in Miami, FL because our seasons very mild. Life cycle puzzles help children understand how things grow and develop. A strong knowlege and love of our earth will hopefully create a sense of responsibility and conservation as our children grow.
