My students need a flip camcorder from Hewlett Packard & an extra battery pack to record their science presentations. This will help improve understanding and analysis.
Imagine trying to learn how to be competitive in the 21st century job market while working with early 20th century facilities. This atmosphere does not provide the best atmosphere for my dedicated biology students. My school is in an urban high needs district and does not have adequate resources.
My students are amazing creative individuals that despite their situation have a positive attitude in life.
The majority live in poverty and qualify for free lunches. They do not have background and exposure to best serve them when taking the NYS Regents exams. Last year I was able to provide them with a science enrichment day at Cornell University and a field trip to the Rochester Science Museum. They loved it and, I believe, inspired some to pursue their interest in science. However, without the technology and supplies, I fear that I cannot give them the best opportunities.
My Project
I have requested a Hewlett Packard flip camera and rechargeable battery. This will enable me to tape my students' presentations and utilize them as critical learning experiences.
To get ahead in any chosen profession, it is a necessity to communicate well and show the qualities and traits that make you special. This is particularly important for my students.
In order to succeed in college or the job market,it is a necessity to have strong oral skills. Speaking in a professional manner will help my students in their future college classes and advance in their professional life.
It is with these supplies that I plan to make a difference in my student's learning this year. I want all my students to pass the NYS Regents exams and have an opportunity to pursue college. For many of my students they will be the first in their family to attend college. These resources may give them the extra boost necessary to succeed.
As a parent and a teacher, I realize the impact education makes on my students.
Science in particular is energizing and engages my students' imaginations. Every day I say to myself, perhaps I am helping one student move forward to a brighter, more hopeful future. Please help me achieve this dream for my students.
Thank you for your consideration.
