My Project
What I love most about our students is their determination, curiosity, and desire to grow into capable, independent young adults. Whether they are in middle school or high school, each student brings a unique perspective and untapped potential.
This project—focused on expanding our workforce development resources into the hospitality sector—will open new doors for students to discover their strengths and interests.
By adding hands-on training and simulations related to hospitality, we are not only introducing them to a high-demand career path but also reinforcing essential work readiness skills such as communication, time management, teamwork, and customer service.
The Ray-Ban Meta glasses are an innovative assistive technology designed to enhance visual perception for individuals with limited vision. These glasses provide real-time environmental feedback that can significantly improve a student's ability to gauge distance and identify textures.
Benefits include:
Improved Spatial Awareness: The glasses use sensors and visual overlays to help the wearer better perceive the distance to objects, enabling safer and more confident navigation in work environments.
Texture Recognition: Enhanced visual processing allows the student to distinguish different surface textures more clearly.
Increased Independence: By reducing reliance on others for visual cues, building confidence and promoting self-sufficiency.
The Real World Math Curriculum and Sensory support items are intended to support students as they need sensory breaks and foster real world mathematic confidence.
These additions will build on our existing employment-focused programs, which include office applications, mail sorting, and food preparation. Together, these resources form a comprehensive, scaffolded experience that helps students practice, reflect, and grow in authentic work-based learning environments. Ultimately, this project strengthens our commitment to preparing students for life beyond school—equipped, confident, and ready to succeed.
