Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My class, of 27 kindergarteners, is located in South East Los Angeles. We are a Title 1 school where all students receive a free lunch. Most of my students are bilingual or are learning English for the first time. My energetic group is learning in a classroom with the bare minimum of materials and resources.
They are eager to learn and thrive in new learning experiences.
In my classroom, I focus on teaching students how to be independent thinkers, as well as global mindedness. We have daily discussions around empathy and how we want to be treated.
My Project
Your generous donation will help kindergarten students become strong readers and writers. Our classroom is in need of a leveled library where students can practice their independent reading skills. With a leveled library, students can select books that challenge them, as well as, support their individual learning needs. We are also in need of small whiteboards in which students will use to practice letter formation, writing numbers, and building sentences. By providing these items to my classroom you will help my students become confident in their reading and writing skills. Thank you for supporting the learning and development of these young scholars.
