This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I currently teach 21 low income, high poverty kindergarteners in an urban school district. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom, many of whom come from bilingual households and receive free or reduced price lunch. Despite these challenges one of my goals as their teacher is to do my level best and provide them with the best education possible. My students are a part of the future and they need the support from individuals like myself and anyone that is reading this. Please support them!
My Project
My students need new math manipulatives, leveled reading books and CDs. My students seem to become more engaged with the curriculum whenever we use math manipulatives. They seem to want to participate and learn more. I realize that with the use of manipulatives ALL of my students perform very well on every task. The math manipulatives I am requesting here will greatly enhance my students’ education. These manipulatives (such as: magnetic ten frames, geometric shapes tub, math skills write and wipe boards) will be a great asset in my classroom. You can help make my students successful. Reading is also important and I would love to encourage my students to do more of. They also will be able to participate in listening centers with the purchase of the classics read alongs I am asking you to purchase for my students.
By supporting this project, my students will be able to be even more engaged in the math and reading curriculum.
They will use these resources to learn and explore math concepts to a higher level of understanding. You can make a positive difference in the lives of my kindergartners.
