My Students

The students in our school are the bright lights of the future. Our school is a positive atmosphere that serves all types of students because we are an open enrollment high school. Our staff is multifaceted in many areas, which stimulates the growth of the many areas of our students' imagination and partnership in learning. Our 11-12th grade are mostly made up of students who are bused to our school from various low-income parts of our city who receive free or reduced-price lunch. These students are energetic about learning new things to open their horizons and explore new and exciting things, even though their environments say otherwise.

My students are students that are learning to be inspired by exploration.

A lot of the time students make future decisions based on very little knowledge of the actual field. Our students are exposed to different real world fields with hands-on learning experiences. This will expose them to the different types of jobs that fall under a particular field, which will aid them in making informed choices for high school and beyond.

My Project

Every student does work well sitting straight up in a desk to get their creative juices flowing. Different learners process information differently, especially in the open field of computer programming. Programming is a place where the impossible can become possible. I would like to create an environment in which students feel comfortable being who they are with sharing and fostering new ideas within my classroom. This brings on the idea of a think tank. A think tank is a workspace that has a relaxed, casual feel within a workplace. The idea of a think tank in which students can relax and share ideas within a classroom setting in which they have open dialogue from peer-to-peer. This will teach students that learning can be innovative and fun.

I need your help with purchasing bean bag furniture, pillows, a rug, and a laptop desk, that will make our think tank area in my classroom so that we can foster the new computer programmers of the future.

This will ensure steps toward empowering kids to see learning programming as essential knowledge.
