Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Remember going from addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to math problems involving letters. How about when you first heard the words sign, cosign and tangent. This is what our 6th grade students are about to face.
We are a Title I, high-poverty school.
My students wake up every day and overcome challenges most of us will never have to face in our lifetime. Throughout their 6th grade year they have had to make up 3-4 grade levels.......and they have achieved that goal. They have gone from learning basic math facts to solving algebraic equations successfully. We have continued to watch the light turn on in their minds. We do not want this light to go out.
My Project
Our student will receive the scientific calculators as a graduation gift. They will be using them in their middle school and high school math classes. These calculators will help our students to become the engineers, scientists, and mathematicians we know they can be. The sky is the limit for these students.
Being a student who is not able to afford the materials in life they need to be successful our students are always a step behind.
By providing these calculators you will be allowing this students to have the same chances as others.
