My Project
Students will apply 4th-grade geometry concepts like shapes, angles, and measurement to design a mini golf course. Working in teams, they will create an engaging course that demonstrates their understanding of geometric principles.
The teacher reviews key geometry concepts—shapes, angles, symmetry—to build a 3D model.
Students work in small groups to design three holes, incorporating geometric shapes and angles. They sketch their ideas and calculate area and perimeter for each hole.
Using craft materials, students construct a 3D model of their course, ensuring their designs are geometrically accurate.
Groups present their courses, explaining how they applied geometry to their design. Students demonstrate how each hole works and share their learning process.
After the project, students reflect on their teamwork and problem-solving skills, evaluating their collaboration and design process.
This project builds teamwork, communication, critical thinking, and time management skills, all crucial for success in college and the workplace. It also shows how math applies in real-life situations, fostering a deeper interest in STEM.
