Future Healthcare Professionals Need Books!

My Students

Hippocrates wrote, “Wherever the art of Medicine is loved, there is also a love of Humanity.” Help the future doctors, nurses, social workers, physical therapists, athletic trainers, and first responders in our classroom discover the wonders of the human body!

My students are a diverse group of motivated middle schoolers all eager to get a jump-start on a future healthcare profession.

Through this class, I hope to empower these future health professionals to become leaders in the global health community through education, collaboration, and experience. Our purpose is to develop leadership and technical skills through project-based learning and community service projects.

My Project

Our seventh and eighth grade future healthcare professionals have been hard at work learning medical terminology. For many of them, they will compete in the spring against students from across the state in a medical terminology competition to see who is the most well-versed in the language of medicine. So far this year, students have been using black and white photocopied packets to learn about the various body systems and the medical terminology associated with them. This does not even come close to comparing to a full-color textbook with much more rich and detailed diagrams.

I'm requesting five copies of Illustrated Guide to Medical Terminology.

These fully illustrated medical terminology textbooks will move our class closer to having a class set of the official textbook that students need to prepare for their annual competition and further their knowledge and understanding of the human body. Seeing an anatomy diagram in full color makes it so much easier to understand, especially because many diagrams are color coded. We will also save on printing costs required to make the weekly packets which are also cumbersome to store.
