Future Filmmakers

My students need a camcorder, an exterrnal hard drive to save their movies in, and a superdrive so they can make DVDs to share with their families.

My Students

My students have never had the opportunity to film a project in school, edit it, and share it. This could be the year that I inspire future movie makers.

My students attend a very small public school in a very busy city!

They love learning and care about one another. It is a special place where everyone knows everyone's name and the students and families help each other succeed. We just achieved the California Distinguished Award and the Title 1 Academic Achievement Award. These awards show that families and schools working together can make wonderful things happen.

My Project

My students will use the video camera to film each other, film events on campus, create small videos, and creatively demonstrate what they are learning in class. The extra memory card will allow multiple students to film before footage has to be downloaded. The superdrive will allow the students to create DVDs to share with their families, and the external hard drive will allow me to store the videos that tend to take up memory on a computer.

My students have not had the opportunity to film at school.

I envision them writing scripts, and acting out small plays while being filmed, based on literature we are reading. I envision them writing interviews and filming and editing them afterwords. I envision them filming students on campus and creating news stories. I envision students thriving while directing their peers in small videos that they create. The possibilities are endless!
