Help me give my students the tools to transform their creative club into a real-world, student-run business that builds both school spirit and essential life skills!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our students are bright, creative, and full of ambition. I co-lead the "Innovators Club," a group of high schoolers at a unique TK-12 independent studies program. Last year, our team came together to design and produce custom items for our school's PBIS store, rewarding fellow students.
They loved the process so much that they are now ready to take the next step on their entrepreneurial journey.
They have the passion, the ideas, and the drive; now they need the seed funding to turn their vision into a reality. The Innovators are ready to expand their operation from a small rewards program to a full-fledged, student-run enterprise! Their goal is to launch a student store that will sell merchandise to students, families, and staff, fostering a stronger sense of school spirit and community identity.
This project goes far beyond just making crafts. By launching and operating their own store, my students will gain invaluable, hands-on experience in:
Business & Financial Literacy: They will manage inventory, set prices, calculate profit, and make decisions about reinvesting their earnings.
Design & Marketing: They will create designs, develop marketing materials, and learn how to promote their products to different audiences.
Customer Service: They will interact directly with customers at school events, learning communication and sales skills.
With our school's Cricut machine as our primary tool, the materials requested will serve as the foundation of our entire enterprise. T-shirts & tote bags will become canvases for school spirit designs; tumblers will be a high-demand item for all; and custom tutus in our school colors will be a huge hit! Finally, the display racks will allow students to create a professional display at school events.
All the profits will be reinvested in the store, so that, hopefully, in the future, the store will be self-sustaining.
