Future Engineers Need STEM!!!

My students need the Design and Build Engineering Center to experience real world problem with fun and engaging STEM Kits.

My Students

The three schools where I teach are very diverse with students from all over the world. My students enjoy reading, project-based learning activities, robotics and being creative. I have the unique opportunity to teach Horizons, a gifted class, for 3 different schools. My students shine when I bring Legos or electronic kits into a lesson about animals or problem solving skills. With our students' economic backgrounds, they don't get many opportunities at home to interact with materials to encourage creative thinking.

My Project

My teaching philosophy is summed up in this quote, "If we teach students today as we taught them yesterday, we rob them of tomorrow." If you think about this statement it is true.

That is why STEM education is critical for out students and our country in the future.

The STEM rich resources in this grant will transform learning in my classroom. On most days, I have STEM stations set up around my classroom. Students rotate from one station to another creating, building, problem solving, analytical thinking, and many more real world skills.

These materials will be taken to 3 different schools in my district a shared with over 80 of my students. I will also share these resources to the other gifted and talented teachers in my district.
