This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our sixth grade cohort is composed of general education learners and exceptional learners (otherwise known as students with IEP's), who are either new to our school or have been with us for quite some time. While I have been in education for nine years, I took over as the sixth grade science teacher recently due to some staffing changes.
My hope is that I can create a safe space for our kids that promotes inquiry, collaboration, exploration and most importantly, mistakes.
It is my belief that only through mistakes, is when learning happens. I would love to also provide them with a hands-on science experience. Currently we are exploring our unit on Energy which is where the Solar powered STEM kits would be amazing!
Over the summer, the sixth grade Science classroom was completely gutted and repainted. As a result, we lost tons of classroom supplies, books and all of our science materials. The shelf and storage cabinet would greatly help to rebuild our class library and create an awesome bulletin board display to showcase our work. We are trying to rebuild our Explorers Club and would appreciate any support!
