Help me give my students an opportunity to get ahead in this world through the use of technology. WeDo LEGO sets will allow the students to be future engineers and technology specialists.
My school has just implemented a STEM program but unfortunately, we do not have the appropriate technology to accommodate the needs of the students. The students at this school are at a disadvantage because they have not been exposed to much academic technology, technology that incorporates science, math, engineering, and technology. This will enhance the students' engagement and promote more discussion.
Our school serves students from Pre-K - fifth grade in a low social-economic area.
The majority of the students are first exposed to technology in school. As a teacher, I would be able to engage these students in the world of advancement with the help of technology.
My Project
These materials will allow the students to develop their sense of creator and builder with the ability to program their creation. They are able to further their understanding by applying what they learn to real-life situations. A lesson in Wedo 2.0 is on earthquakes. The lesson teaches children what earthquakes are, how do they form, and what kind of building structures are needed to be built in order to withstand an earthquake. They now have to build different kinds of building structures and a machine that trembles. This is only one example of how important these WeDo kits are to my students.
Technology is the future of this world.
Many children are still unable to get ahead because of their lack of understanding of technology or their lack of exposure. These materials will enable the students to at least get exposed to the world of technology and that interest can be further explored. These students can and will become future leaders of technology. The first step is exposure!
