My Students

The main goal of each day is to tap into the investigative spirit found within each youngster to drive the discovery process of education. This is accomplished in a variety of ways including hands-on activities such a model building to teach principles of engineering to solve real life issues.

Most of my students aim to become first generation college students.

Being a high poverty, low-income International school, we proudly boast students from a myriad of diverse backgrounds and countries stretching from Africa to Asia. Our school motto is "Unity through diversity." Students at my school often speak English as a secondary language and the use of hands on materials is essential to their overall comprehension of content. Students at my school graduate with an understanding of how complex processes influence policy and economics on a global scale. Each day my students participate in activities geared towards the development of good attitudes concerning work, tools, materials, experimentation, and processes of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

My Project

Throughout the age of enlightenment and beyond, technology has been the driving force to understanding the natural world around us in addition to solving crucial issues. With the invention of the telescope, Galileo Galilei revolutionized how we thought about our role in the universe. More recently, in the age of computers, humans have been able to work more proficiently by developing code for machines to perform certain tasks. This is also a great opportunity to develop/hone coding skills that are transferable to local trade schools, colleges and beyond! Working at an inner city school provides unique challenges to teachers; none of which are insurmountable. It is the role of the teacher to excite and engage each student. I am requesting a MSI Computer G Series GE72 Apache Pro-001 laptop. With your support my students will be able to write unique code and gain programming skills in a hands-on approach to engineering education. Furthermore, students can now take pride in knowing that their school has the latest and most high-tech resources. My students need a capable, reliable Apache Pro-001 laptop so they can learn coding and run their programs during robotics club.

My goal is to teach my students to learn the engineering language of robots to accomplish a task.

Currently my students use outdated and nonfunctional computers. In robotics club, students work in teams to compete with one another. There are several ways a person in robotics can contribute to their team. One person can be a builder, while another can be a programmer, and another could be a designer. Your donations will bring unique and diverse students together to accomplish a common goal by learning how to code.
