Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Never a dull moment with my Pre-Kindergarten students. They walk into my classroom full of energy on a daily basis. They are curious about the world they live in and enjoy learning. My students attend a Title l school and a great majority are English language learners. 99% of our students come from low-income homes, and all students receive free breakfast and lunch. My students are eager to learn, but too often are faced with many types of hardships at home. School is often a safe haven for them.
My students enjoy story time, but they love playing the "Author and Illustrator" roles.
At their young age, they know exactly the role that each plays in making a book come alive. They enjoy drawing and "writing" about their illustrations while at our writing center. Therefore, having notebooks and gel pens to add to our center will only enhance their pre-literacy skills to develop future authors and illustrators. Moreover, to help develop pre-writing and drawing skills, I am also asking for a Teacher Pay Teachers gift card to purchase materials that will aide in this development for my students.
