Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a Wraparound Specialist, my duty is to service the non-academic needs of the student, such as finding resources for food, clothing, mental health and medical services, legal aid, etc. to ensure that students succeed academically.
Given the location of the schools in the feeder pattern, many of our schools are surrounded by a heavy industrial zone and sit in a food desert lack of access to food and low economic backgrounds adds continuous barriers to our student’s success.
You will find a list of items needed for the food baskets on the next page. If your organization has the capacity to donate any of these items, it would be greatly appreciated as we will be fulfilling a large food need within our feeder pattern.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
