Furniture to Support Social Skills & Sensory Needs

Help me give my students furniture that will support learning. My kindergarten students would benefit from having the small wooden table to play games with a partner and the cushions to fulfill their sensory needs.

My Project

I teach a group of five students who are full of energy, creativity and fun. All of my students are diagnosed on the autism spectrum and due to their disabilities, they have difficulties with communication, daily life skills, and social interactions. In our class, we focus on helping them build these skills and become more engaged in the world around them which they are so eager to explore and understand.

Myself, a speech therapist and my classroom team of two paraprofessionals work with each student using individualized programs to help them reach and exceed their goals.

My students have restricted interests and are learning to play appropriately with toys. We are hoping that these new wobble seat and table will help them expand their interests, play skills and social skills. We plan to utilize the table for peer-to-peer group work activities. The students will be able to sit across from each other and play structured games. Also, the sensory cushions will help them feel more comfortable while they are working at the table.
