Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
“Play is the highest form of research.” – Albert Einstein
My students are thoughtful, determined, and mindful children who want to learn more about themselves and the world around them.
They are learning to work together as a community to learn English and create an environment of collaboration. As English Language Learners, my students have adjusted to our program, and are exploring their language development daily. I want to continue providing them with opportunities to enhance their learning and growth.
My Project
I am asking for storage and furniture to enhance play for my preschoolers. They have many wonderful materials such as multicultural clothing, and different types of play food, but hardly ever use them because they are in unattractive/broken storage containers. I want my students to be able to see the materials they have, and place them in the correct areas, as well as use them daily without restriction.
These materials will help my students understand the importance of taking care of things that belong to a community.
For example, they will learn how to clean up, put things away, and organize. I want them to be responsible with not only their own toys but those that belong to a group.
Lastly, I know having organization will help them utilize their imagination with make-believe play, taking care of their dolls, and teach compassion and selflessness. Dressing up, moving dolls around, and using play toys will help them with their motor skills and improve them dramatically. These materials will also help improve the children’s language development and communication skills. These materials will also provide my students with creating imaginary scenarios for their dolls and others toys. They will learn to see beyond themselves, and understand the repercussions of actions, and develop important strengths like empathy for others.
