My students need more math manipulatives - magnetic ten frames and foam dice - to use in our FunMatics Lab.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Coleman's classroom raised $350

My Students
Teachers are always full of visions. My vision was a Math Lab for all students to come and have fun while reinforcing Math skills. Lucky for me, my principal agreed with my vision and my Lab has taken off running!
With the vision for my Lab came the obstacle of learning to teach all grades in my school effectively.
The demographics of my school has constantly changed and currently we are dealing with more lower income families than usual. Also, all children are falling "victim" to technology and we are constantly having to stand on our heads in our classroom to keep the students engaged. My Lab has provided a chance to help students, and teachers, by being the game part of Math for the students. Each week I incorporate games that are based on the math lessons being taught that week to each class. My students are always excited to come in and see what Ms. Coleman has come up with to learn their math concept from class.
My Project
I am requesting magnetic 10 frames with counters and foam dice. First off, whoever invented foam dice is a teacher's best friend! They are wonderful and they have been a blessing. The quiet and ease of using foam dice helps keep the students on track and focused. They aren't distracted by the sounds hard dice make when they hit a surface. I have found that when 650 hands touch foam dice they do get destroyed pretty quickly. These dice would allow me to constantly rotate them in and out as they need to be replaced. I am also requesting magnetic 10 frames. The younger grades are constantly using the 10 frames to demonstrate math in many ways. Having this type of 10 frame would not only be fun for the children, but also very helpful to me. The children can hold up their answers and I wouldn't have to run around checking everyone around the room. Also, the children can play "flip games" with partners, where now my homemade 10 frames can only be used on the table.
These donations will make things easier for me, but will also continue to make learning fun for my students.
I am always coming up with new games and ideas for my students to show their knowledge of math, and these items will help encourage my students' confidence and engagement.
