Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are some amazing emergent bilinguals in Barrio Logan! They are so full of laughter and joy that can make anyone's day instantly brighter. I'm so lucky to have such an amazing group of kindergarteners who have taken the challenge of this pandemic and have thrived regardless! Most of my students had never had gone to school before walking into my classroom this year. My students are resilient and I want to continue to give them the tools to succeed.
My Project
I want my students to take on a field that has traditionally been closed off to the Black and Latino community. My students are more than ready to build their skills with engineering and STEM. These materials will help students have the ability to work on the fine motor skills, cognitive connections, and resilient patterns necessary to excel in the STEM and engineering fields. In order to create more equity in the field, it starts in early childhood education. My students deserve the same opportunities as other students. Help us get into STEM!
