This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students need to learn how to make mistakes and learn from those mistakes.
My students are loud and proud!
Most are Hispanic with families from the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. Even though they face many socioeconomic obstacles, they have a strong desire to succeed. We are a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) school with a strong emphasis on incorporating the Arts through all disciplines.
My Project
Due to the economic situation of our school community, our students lack the FUND-A-MENTAL tools to succeed in the math classroom. They need to know when they walk in to our classroom, basic resources such as pencils and erasers will be available to them.
Highly effective math students need to work hard and push though the many challenging problems they face. In my classroom, they will not only learn math but, through constant determination learn the value of perseverance. They will learn giving up is not an option.
Having the piece of mind a pencil an eraser and a caring educator will be available upon entering the classroom is invaluable to a student.
