This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Please help! I have a CD/recorder, but nothing to go in it! I want more than anything for my students to be exposed to a variety of supplies and curriculum so that they can achieve their full potential. Literacy is essential!
I am a second grade teacher in a Title 1 school.
This school is in a very low income area, and many of my students come from troubled home situations. Also, many of my students have English as their second language, and listening to English in every way possible is essential to their learning.
Listening to the stories while looking at the pictures gives students the essential experience of linking spoken words with visual cues. Many of my children do not get read to at home on a daily basis, making the listening center even more imperative. Your help will ensure that my students are read to multiple times a week by someone in addition to myself.
My Project
A set of books with Cd's would greatly enhance the learning of my students! Listening to reading not only expands their vocabulary but builds fluency as well.
Listening to books being read to them will start them on their way to becoming little readers who love to read.
Budget cuts have affected us all, and they have made their way into my classroom as well.
