This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Children learn at remarkable rates through out their early childhood. Once school starts it is imperative for a secure, nurturing and comfortable environment be established. We have a wide range of ethnic backgrounds; acceptance, love and understanding is not only fostered but effortlessly being displayed on a daily basis.
Kindergarten is a most important grade, it is where students' love of learning is sparked and flourished.
Creating an academic foundations for children to achieve future goals enables learning to happen incidentally and naturally.
My Project
My Kindergarten class is full of energetic, eager to learn children. They would love to be able to move around the classroom from centers, however the outdated furniture stops them from any mobility.
Small group instruction is key to help individualize learning for students, it is where a teacher can cater to various styles in order to make learning fun.
The current furniture does not fit in the room, nor allow any space for us to work in small groups or independently, hindering their opportunity to have successful learning experience. Tables and chairs that are more age and size appropriate will allow for more autonomous learning. The furniture we have now also prohibits my students from safely maneuvering around the classroom. Fostering a safe and functioning environment with this new furniture will greatly improve my students' school lives and love of learning.
