Fun With Vocabulary Building

My students need 7 game collections, including 2 Eric Carle Games Collections and 4 Vocabulary Games Libaries.

This project is fully funded

I teach all Special Education students who are Deaf. Their basic language skills are many years behind their hearing peers due to delayed vocabulary acquisition. Most students are very visual learners due to the nature of their native language which is American Sign Language. They love to play games and learn new vocabulary.

In my school the majority of students live in very poverty stricken environments and are not provided the basic background knowledge that would encourage good language skills. I am not given a budget for any supplies due to the poor financial status of the district. Our school doesn't have enough money for the basics like toilet paper. Having games for these kids to learn with would be a miracle.

Kids learn best when involved with activities they enjoy. Educational games are a terrific learning tool. My children are light years behind in the very rudimentary language and vocabulary skills. Language building games will encourage skill building at the same time learning skills of playing by rules, sequencing and problem solving.

Your help will ensure that my students get every opportunity to learn via various means to become effective communicators and achieve a vocabulary that helps them through their academic courses.
