Fun with technology!

Help me give my students access to greater communication by creating motivation to practices using their voices in a fun, reinforcing, way through Karaoke! Help us prolong the longevity of our technology through headphone organization and charging equipment.

My Students

In my classroom, I have up to 15 students with intellectual disabilities in fourth and fifth grades. These students are busy, happy people who enjoy their entire day at school. They love to learn like most other students and they enjoy their peers and all the activities school has to offer. Our classroom runs non-stop and sometimes putting on the brakes to settle down and absorb academic instruction is difficult.

Students with intellectual disabilities need an extra dose of motivation to stay connected to their grade level course work.

My Project

Students with disabilities have difficulty with communication abilities. Use of a karaoke machine is a common strategy speech therapist use to encourage students with communication difficulties to practice using their voices in a fun, motivating way! Additionally, students can present academic content through the microphone or sing along to "Flocabulary" content songs. Our students love the use of technology to learn, but our classroom set of technology as begun to show wear and tear. I am asking for economical systems of organization such as plastic shoe holders to place our headphones in for protection. We need charging stations and cord replacements so all of our technology can be charged safely at once for greater use.
