My students are all labeled as severe intellectually challenged. They are all nonverbal and have some type of visual impairment.
I am one of two homebound teachers, that means I travel to student homes that are either too medically fragile to attend school or they have behaviors that are best managed in a home environment.
My 6 students range from 3 to 14 years of age and have varying degrees of mobility. The families I service are all fantastic and love their child. It is a blessing to be allowed into their homes to teach their child. The homebase school is fabulous. My own child was a student at this school and I admired it to the point that I became a teacher here.
My Project
My students are in need of seventeen high quality and engaging texts for our reading program.
These picture books will help deepen my students' reading skills, including comprehension, grammar, phonics, and vocabulary.
By helping my class, you are also helping 2 other homebound classes since we share resources. My students will be able to choose which book they want to read for each lesson. Art projects that correspond with each book will be used to reinforce the message of each book.
These books are rich in many reading concepts and we will enjoy the art lessons that will follow each story.
