it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
One of my favorite things about teaching second grade is not only teaching them how to read, but how to love reading. One of our favorite times of day is phonics and working on building a foundation to become excellent readers. This project is aimed at providing resources such as Vowel sounds teaching kits, phonics flip books, CVC games, and 3-letter word cards for second-grade students at a Title 1 school, with a focus on supporting their phonics skills and building a stronger foundation for reading and writing. The funding would be used to purchase educational materials that can be used in small-group instruction. These resources would help enhance literacy instruction for students who may face additional challenges. By strengthening phonics knowledge and promoting early reading and writing skills, the goal is to set these students on a path to academic success, improving their overall educational outcomes. I have also included incentives for students when they pass their rainbow reading words each week (bookmarks and Takis). These incentives are to get my scholars excited to practice reading and writing their words!
