My students need phonemic awareness and language learning centers to use during independent work time.

My Students
Students are overwhelmed with pencil and paper work and are bored with coloring pages. They need time to explore and use hands-on materials to facilitate learning.
My students are wonderful, energetic kindergartners from a variety of backgrounds.
They attend a Los Angeles Title I public school. They are excited and eager to learn. They love sharing their thoughts and ideas. Some of the students in my class have attended a preschool program and know the letters of the alphabet, but they are just learning how to read. Some speak languages other than English and are only exposed to English at school. They need extra opportunities to practice phonics skills.
My Project
With the instant learning center materials, my students will be able to reinforce skills taught in class. They will be able to work with other students and have fun while doing it. Since these materials are designed for the students to do independently, they can work without being under direct adult supervision. This will allow me to work with small groups on reinforcing basic skills or doing enrichment activities. Additionally, these learning centers can be used right out of the box the day they arrive and do not require preparation or additional materials before the students can use them.
With the new learning center materials, students will be excited to practice what they are being taught and will have fun doing it.
The learning centers will motivate them to finish their "must-do" tasks so they can work with a partner using one of the center activities.
