This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a special education teacher, I teach a Core Autism class grades 3-5. I work at a Title I school, which means that more than 50% of our students receive full or reduced-priced lunch. My students enjoy school and learn through hands-on activities. They all have individualized educational needs which are met through small groups and hands on learning. We study science, social studies, language arts, math and incorporate art on a daily basis. I believe that every child can learn but may need different avenues to reach their goals.
My Project
These resources will provide a variety of games and activities to teach phonics. Children need to learn the acquisition of letter sound correspondences and their use of spelling and reading.
Phonics instruction makes a positive contribution in reading growth which provides a strong foundation in literacy.
My students will be able to practice word families and word building with CVC puzzles, beginning and ending sound spelling cards. Other phonics skills include mastering CVC words and blends. These materials will be used in a small group instruction setting and will provide instructional support according to the specific phonics skill needed to learn.
