My Project

To give my afterschool students something different to do I decided to introduce them to origami which will offer a calming, hands-on activity that supports focus, patience, and creativity—skills that many students in alternative setting benefit from developing.

Origami encourages mindfulness and can reduce stress, making it an ideal tool for students who may struggle with traditional learning environments or emotional regulation.

It also provides an opportunity for students to experience success through step-by-step instruction, promoting confidence and perseverance. Additionally, origami can be integrated across content areas such as math (geometry, symmetry), art, and cultural studies, offering both educational value and a break from routine.
