This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember what it was like the first time you read a book that you couldn't put down? My students haven't discovered the joy of reading yet, but with these books they will be able to finally enjoy reading.
My students are extremely excited to learn.
They are eager to read but we don't have the literature that interests them. We are in a poverty level school and these students don't have the money to buy books that interest them. Their parents don't have the time to take them to the library so they are able to read. With a class library we will be able to read books that we like.
My Project
We need multiple copies of various leveled books in order to conduct literature circles during Reader's Workshop. With a classroom library of 50 books my students will be able to choose a book that interests them. We want multiple copies of each book so we can have literature circles. Allowing the students to have literature circles will empower them to read and get them excited to read daily.
Now is the time to make a difference and provide our students with the materials they need to read.
Don't you remember when you were in second grade and you started reading chapter books. These students need books. Just imagine how excited they will be when they open a book they enjoy.
