My Students
My students are six energetic, fun loving, third, fourth, and fifth graders. They all have a diagnosis of autism and are working on becoming independent members of their community.
"If they can't learn the way we teach, teach the way they learn".
In our classroom, we work on academics as well as activities of daily living. We celebrate achievements no matter how big or small they may be. A little love and someone who believes in them is all they need.
My Project
Due to a diagnosis of autism my students follow individualized curriculum plans. However, each and every one of my students work on daily living skills. They practice daily living to promote independence throughout the school day which then continues to their home environment. My students need plenty of practice to help master these skills.
By purchasing a fridge and a microwave, it will promote independence at school and at home.
My students will use these materials every day and will practice putting away the groceries we buy each week. Learning how to complete daily living skills will help my students become successful adults!
