This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Children have to be educated, but they have also to be left to educate themselves." ~Abbé Dimnet
My students are learning to work independently during small group instruction. The learning centers will keep them actively engaged.
My first grade students are eager to learn and love to work along side each other.
Collaboratively, they grapple with new ideas and relearn concepts with excitement. They live in a lower socioeconomic area where resources are limited. Many are struggling with basic reading and math skills. While other students need to be challenged.
My Project
The learning centers I am requesting will provide meaningful independent work during small group instruction. The quiz cards and hot dot pens will reinforce the concepts learned from previous lessons. It will give them more practice with consonants, vowels, digraphs, blends, addition, subtraction, money and time. These are skills needed in our daily lives. The hot dot pen will provide accurate feedback as they work on their own. The junction box will allow up to eight students to work at the listening center. They will listen to children's literature to build on their comprehension and vocabulary skills.
Your donation to this project will give my students the resources needed to build their reading and math skills.
These learning center tools will give students the opportunity to reinforce concepts during independent work time in an engaging and and meaningful manner.
