My Students
My third grade students are full of fun, curiosity, and enthusiasm. They love to learn and try new things. They enjoy good books, interacting with technology, and just being kids. They are always looking for new things to learn about.
My Project
Third graders need a strong conceptual understanding of fractions. Part of my project focuses on helping children visualize, then internalize, the meaning of fractions. This skill will carry over into many areas of mathematics.
Another part of my project is focused on helping children have hands-on experience with clocks and telling time.
We learn about elapsed time, which is a difficult concept for many students. Having their own clock to manipulate, while I use a large one for all to see, will help them develop important skills and increase their confidence.
