This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a teacher in a high poverty/low income school, students are faced with numerous challenges before they even enter the school doors each day. Regardless of what is occurring at home, school can be a wonderful place for students to take a break from some of their hardships. I am fortunate enough to work at a school where we focus on building positive relationships and helping each student grow not only academically, but emotionally and providing them with the tools to succeed in and out of the classroom.
Currently, our school is working to improve early literacy using the science of reading approach.
I am looking for resources to support this. I am asking for a gift card to purchase resources from Teachers Pay Teachers. I have used many of their resources in the past and have seen success with the products I currently own.
In our small groups each day many students need other resources besides the curriculum the school provides. This gift card will give them more variety in their instruction and more opportunity to meet their individual needs. If I am able to purchase different resources, I can reach more levels of students. I give students a variety of activities in order to keep their interest levels high.
