My students need basic supplies, including scissors, markers, highlighters, poster board and glue sticks.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Jacka's classroom raised $309
This project is fully funded
Our classroom is in an urban low income area of New York State. Our classroom includes students that are both low level regular education students and special education students.
Every spring the 7th grade students complete a unit on financial literacy including tax, tip and discount. We also learn about budgeting our money. While we learn about loans, credit cards and checking accounts we focus on the ideas that are relevant to our students at that moment. We need supplies to help students create a presentation. Students will use the Internet for the research for their presentation.
Students will learn how to save their money including encouraging them to open their own savings account and developing a financial plan for themselves. Students will create a project that describes their own personal budget. Students create a presentation that shows how they will do things such as save money for college, apply for student loans, save money for things they want in the short term and discuss their basic budget. My students needs items to help them put together their presentation such as poster board, paper, scissors, glue, etc.
So many of our students don't know enough about money. In this economy and especially in such a low income area my students need to know about credit cards, student loans, conventional loans, basic budgeting and HOW TO SAVE MONEY!!! Once they get started researching on the Internet and putting together a presentation about their budget they are hooked! They will strive to learn more about finances and it is just an awesome thing to see! You can see the results of the students projects if you help us out. Thank you for considering helping us with our project and the materials we need.
