My students need books to enhance their literacy skills. When children read books, they expand their vocabulary, critically think of problems and solutions, wonder aloud and use self-talk.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Educational success begins with a high quality preschool experience. Creating a stimulating, rich and hands-on learning environment is an integral part of providing our youngest learners with the opportunities to reach their fullest potential.
Every morning, fifteen children enter my classroom with a bright smile and a desire to discover and explore the materials and environment around them.
The majority of the children in my classroom are Dual Language Learners who each have different abilities. They live in an urban city that is plagued by crime, violence and poverty. This however does not impede on their eagerness and motivation to learn!
My Project
The books requested will promote early literacy skills that are predictors of later academic success. The children will be drawn to the books selected because of their plots, vivid illustrations and catchy titles. Many books selected are ones which include diversity in terms of different abilities, culture and communities. Children should be exposed to books that show differences so that they may be able to relate it to their life. In an area where many children are Latino, it is important to have books in both English in Spanish to better suit the needs of Dual Language Learners. The books I am asking for are ones that will spark curiosity and interest among my students.
