Help me give my students some tools for creating patterns and textures on their clay pieces. These tools will teach students how to apply designs which will affect the look and feel of the surface of the clay.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are an urban high school where there is a lack of necessary materials and resources for our students to thrive. Our neighborhood is high poverty and we are considered to be one of the most challenging schools in our area. I have taught here for 17 years and enjoy the creative spirit of my students.
Over the years I have had the pleasure of seeing my students discover talents they never knew they had.
I strive to expose them to as many diversified artistic experiences as I can.
My Project
In Ceramics class the students work with clay all year long and learn hand building along with different ways to affect the surface of their work. A fun way to create interesting pieces is to use textures and patterns.
With these tools the students can make interesting patterns and textures on the surface of the clay.
The surface designs will also open up opportunities for interesting applications of color to their finished pieces.
Having the tools will add an engaging and fun element to clay projects because of all the patterns students will be able to press into the surface.
