Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach in an amazing school. It is a multicultural environment with students from around the word including China Uzbekistan, Russia, Albania, India, Pakistan, Dominican Republic, Peru, Columbia, Brazil and many more.

My students are always looking for more to read to find more information about the areas I introduce them to. Many are ESL students and these magazines are great to work with these children. Many of the textbooks we use are outdated and these magazines help bring current information to my students.

I am asking for 4 scholastic magazines that are a fun way to learn. Storyworks includes short stories, plays, poetry, interviews and word puzzles. All these reinforce the reading skills I teach in class. Dynamath includes math puzzles and real life situations that use math to practice their skills. Super Science has articles that I have found students love to read. It supplements what is the curriculum and reinforces reading and research skills. Finally, Scholastic News provides current events at a reading level the children can understand. I want my students to really be aware of what is happening around the world.

I know that these magazines will help my students become thinking members of society it will show them that reading and math and science are not just for tests. Your donation will make it possible for my students to have materials that they enjoy using.
