This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students attend a specialized public high school in New York City renowned for excelling at math and the sciences. They are also passionate about learning French and developing their ability to communicate with people from around the world, thus becoming well-rounded individuals and future leaders.
Voracious readers, my students breeze through French language books faster than I can obtain them.
The more they read, the more their vocabulary and communication skills improve, transforming them into truly proficient French speakers.
My Project
It's well known that reading in a foreign language is one of the most effective ways to improve your vocabulary and grammatical skills in that language. Since instituting free voluntary reading sessions into my classroom, I have seen my students' French skills improve at a rapid pace.
My students love getting lost in a good book, and I would like to provide them with a wealth of different materials to choose from.
On free reading days, my students eagerly eye the books that pique their interest and rush to scoop them up. I hope to create and display a French language library large enough to hold the students' interest for years.
