Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This project will help my students with reading. Each day we are required to have reading time. When learning to read it can be difficult and a little intimidating. These materials were specifically chosen for buddy reading and paired reading. Students will be able to sit with peers, learn to read, explore directionality, learn new words, and expand on whole group lessons to name a few. Each set of books chosen is a big book that I read aloud during whole group. Giving students the opportunity to go to small group and explore the book themselves will increase engagement and the likelihood that they will learn and notice a more increased amount of words than they would if I just read the story. It would help the gradual release model that we will be following.
