My Project

Next year, I will be teaching the little cuties in first grade. I am excited about this new move! One of the major concentrations in first grade reading and I love to read so I am excited to share this love with them.

Independent reading in first grade does not just happen over night.

There is some magical formula that all first grade teachers use. First, a strong love of reading has to be instilled from the beginning. Then, plenty of practice has to happen. Lots of engaging hands-on activities have to be utilized. Learning to make mistakes in a safe environment is a must!

We will use the materials to help build phonics skills such as reading CVC words and making real and non-sense words with the dominoes. Banagrams will be used in as a center game to help build words.
