My Project
I am currently supporting upper grade students who are new to the country and learning English. As they quickly learn phonics skills, they need fun, engaging ways to practice their skills. Introducing phonic games, dry erase markers, and fraction bars to support newly arrived students learning English offers multifaceted benefits.
Phonic games infuse fun into language learning, engaging students through interactive and auditory methods, which are particularly effective for those still grasping English fundamentals.
Dry erase markers facilitate active participation, enabling students to practice writing English words and phrases, fostering both language acquisition and confidence in communication.
Fraction bars serve a dual purpose, providing a tactile and visual aid for understanding fractions while accommodating diverse learning styles. For students struggling with abstract mathematical concepts, fraction bars offer a concrete representation, enhancing comprehension and retention. Their hands-on nature encourages exploration and experimentation, fostering a deeper understanding of fraction concepts.
By integrating these tools, educators create an inclusive and dynamic learning environment that caters to the diverse needs of newly arrived students, ensuring engagement, comprehension, and progress in both language acquisition and mathematical understanding.
