My Students
The preschool to 6th grade students I support have some of the biggest hearts I have ever met! We are a small-ish school with big hearts for inclusion and a love for learning.
The students I support have a variety of speech-sound and language-based needs.
We try to incorporate literacy into everything we do together!
My Project
Having fun, high-interest reading materials makes reading fun and successful! To bridge the gap amongst speaking, listening, reading, and writing, boosting up phonics (connecting the speech sounds we hear to the letters that represent them) is so important!
To paraphrase Dr. Louisa Moats, literacy expert, "Speaking is natural, reading and writing are not and must be explicitly taught."
