This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a vibrant group of 1st graders. They are a group of hard-working, talented, and energetic students that love to come to school. They are constantly asking questions, exploring and making sense of the world around them, all while learning a second language.

My students love to sing, dance, laugh, and express their learning.

Something that we pride ourselves on at our school is the joyful learning happening in all classrooms! What we may lack in resources we try our best to give our students other opportunities to learn and grow.

My Project

First grade is an important foundational year in the early elementary years. Students are learning and achieving BIG milestones such as reading and writing independently. One way to build these literacy skills is through centers. During centers, students are working independently and/or with a partner to complete a task pertaining to the focus skills of the week. Students should engage in activities that are of their interests and challenge them to grow and further develop their learning. This Hand2Mind Kit teaches students to work independently and most importantly self-check their work.

Students take the lead in their own learning.
