Fun Literacy Centers

My students need resources, like the Phonics Instant Literacy Center, a Magnetic Word Building Board and a set of phonics awareness boxes, to assist in learning phonics and reading in a fun way.

My Students

Do you remember what it was like to learn phonics just by listening to a teacher talk? My students need activities to follow up activities to create a visual of what I am teaching.

My students are visual learners.

They have to see it to understand it. Our school has a high poverty rate and many do not get to play educational games at home. I would like to provide them with the opportunity to put what I teach into a game. They would be able to interact with each other more during small groups and share learning moments with their peers. My students get motivated when their peers are motivated.

My Project

Students love small group time but get bored quickly when they have to complete the same activities weekly. I would like to give them other activities to choose from so they can broaden their learning experiences. I would introduce my students to the activities during small group instruction with me and then allow them to use the activities independently. The materials I am requesting to make my project successful are two magnetic word boards, match-a-sound complete set of phonics games, and a complete set of phonics literacy center games. With the provided materials I can make literacy a fun learning experience.

With the use of the requested materials I feel that phonics will have a greater impact on students learning to sound out words for reading and writing.

Students will become more confident in their phonics skills and also gain confidence.
