My Students
I teach an amazing group of 3rd, 4th and 5th graders with a range of disabilities from Autism, Specific Learning Disabilities, Cerebral Palsy, ADHD, Hearing Impairment and Emotional Disturbance. These students have a wide range of backgrounds socially and economically. Our school is located in a low socio-economic area and strive for parent involvement.
I want my students to have the same learning opportunities as their typical peers.
They want to learn, understand, and be a part of activities, like their non-disabled peers. My students require a multitude of learning strategies and materials in order to reach their true potential. This involves many different ways of teaching and tools for engagement.
My students LOVE to learn through technology and enjoy moving around the classroom while they learn and work with me or a small group. They are so curious and it is very rewarding as a teacher when their light bulb goes off or something clicks and they start striving academically and socially.
My Project
How awesome is LEGO Education?! As a teacher, I am super excited to find these different LEGO sets and activities. Not only do my students all love to play with LEGOS, they will love to LEARN with LEGOS!
I would be thrilled to teach my special learners about different animals, community members, transportation, etc with these amazing sets!
My students often have a difficult time focusing for long periods of time and staying engaged in activities. I truly believe with these materials from LEGO Education our lessons will be amazing and engaging. My students will actively listen, get to build, write, draw and learn with smiles on their faces!
