Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a first-year teacher and I am beyond excited to be able to teach a group of five to six year old students who from the beginning have expressed their love for learning. This group of twenty-four enthusiastic kindergarten students are ready to become the future generation of lifelong learners. My students come from a diverse background. They are energetic and their smiles can brighten and warm your heart. Our classroom is welcoming and supportive. My students and I have created a classroom environment where we treat each other with mutual respect, love, and support.
Our classroom community is built with the solid foundation of acceptance and valuing each other’s needs.
My students are English language learners who are strong believers of their abilities to overcome any challenge. I instill in my students the importance of having a growth mindset. It is important that they trust in their own potential for continuous growth.
My Project
It is important to provide my students with a learning environment that will support their needs. I want to keep them engaged and motivated during their time in school. Providing them with alternative seating options will allow them to do so. Students learn differently and their environment plays a vital role in their learning. My purpose for the flexible seating is to provide my students with a comfortable atmosphere conducive to learning.
As a first-year teacher, I want my students to have access to fun and educational tools that will help support their learning.
For this year, I am focusing on reading and mathematics. The majority of my students are unable to read. I want to provide my students with reading tools that will permit them to create words and ultimately develop a final product, sentences. My students are beginning to learn the basic mathematical concepts of counting, adding, and subtracting. It is crucial to integrate in a mathematical lesson tools that will help them develop and further expand those basic skills. Students are able to retain new acquired knowledge through the use of manipulatives. The requested resources will help my kinder students use hands-on tools to develop and master those reading and mathematical concepts.
