Fun Learning Fridays!

My students need new board games for our Friday clubs! The Board Game club is a fun way for students to come together to practice many different lifelong skills.

My Students

Our class is made up of 2 teachers, 3 paraprofessionals and 27 students in a 4th grade Integrated Co Teaching Class. We have general education students as well as special education students, so we have a wide range of performance levels in our classroom.

Our neighborhood is comprised of low income families, and many of our students live in public housing.

100% of our students receive free lunch and quite a few of our students are currently living in homeless shelters. Our small school is located in the neighborhood of Sheepshead Bay in Brooklyn, New York, and we are a Title I school. We are aware that many of our students are performing below grade level so we need a variety of resources to meet their needs.

My Project

Board Games are a fun way for students to come together to practice many different life long skills.

Every Friday in our school, the 4th and 5th grade students choose a club to join and meet new students and experience new and fun activities.

Students rotate clubs in three cycles. We have a variety of clubs such as a movie club, arts and crafts, cheer leading, basketball, cooking and so much more!!!

Our Club is all about Board Games!!! Board Games help develop skills such as sportsmanship, rule following, taking turns, communicating verbally, sharing, and enjoying interaction with others. It also builds strength in the ability to focus, and build stamina by allowing them to interact with peers. These skills help develop students social interaction and allows them to become college and career ready.

Board games are overall just FUN and allow us to laugh and spend time with students from different grades and different classes!
